It’s the final day for CTV News Calgary and Brookfield Properties’ Toy Mountain campaign and Calgarians have really stepped it up this year by donating thousands of toys and dollars to help clients of the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter.

Hundreds of people droped off cash and presents at our Toy Mountain collection bins during the campaign and 3853 toys were collected.

The goal of the initiative was also to raise $100,000 to help the 50-bed facility that gives women and children who are experiencing family violence a safe haven.

A number of Calgary corporations have also launched their own initiatives in their offices and have rallied together to collect toys and raise cash for the shelter.

On Friday, the final day of the campaign, the cash total was just shy of that goal at $95,084.37.

It is our hope that this campaign will raise awareness around domestic violence and abuse and the great work the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter does, in addition to collecting items the shelter desperately needs to help the women and children they serve.

Thanks to our sponsors, AMJ Campbell, Brookfield Properties and Canyon Creek Toyota for making this year’s campaign a huge success.
