Many Calgarians say the city needs to do a better job of clearing snow from the streets and it turns out the city agrees.

Ryan Jestin, the City of Calgary Roads Director says “it's obvious our efforts haven't been good enough and I'm the first to admit to those in the northeast that it's a tough time."

The city admits it wasn’t properly prepared for the massive amount of snow over the past few weeks.

The city has already gone through nearly 80 per cent of its snow clearing budget for the season.  It’s moved 40-thousand tonnes of snow in the last six week, more than it normally moves all winter.

The city says it will now rely on more private contractors to keep snow off the roads, but admits that won’t be cheap.
