In its 23rd year, the Alberta Wilderness Association’s Climb and Run for Wilderness at the Calgary Tower is held to increase public awareness of wilderness, wildlife and wild water in Alberta. With many different events, from the climb and run, to a mural painting and poetry contest, to games and face-painting for the kids, to an expo celebrating wild Alberta, the event offers many diverse media opportunities.

The Climb and Run for Wilderness provides learning opportunities combined with athletic challenges in support of the Alberta Wilderness Association, the oldest wilderness conservation group in Alberta, dedicated to the conservation of wilderness throughout the province.

The event attracts participants from 2 to 93 years old, with a diverse range of athletic ability. A day with family, a corporate challenge day, a fun time, and a serious opportunity to test one’s personal best are all combined in this Earth Day event. Attracting more than 1,500 individual participants from all over western Canada and the United States, the Climb and Run for Wilderness is known as the best Earth Day event in western Canada.
