Canada’s largest model train show proved to be as popular as ever as crowds packed into the Calgary Soccer Centre in the southeast on the first day of the two day event.

According to the show’s chairman, Rob Badmington, Supertrain 2014, which covers more than 60,000 sq. ft. of floor space at the centre, has something for railway enthusiasts of all ages.

“We have garden railroads, we have railroad trains that are small enough to hold in your hands. we have trains you can ride on from Iron Horse Park in Airdrie,” explains Badmington. “We have fantastic, exquisite, detailed models that people spend thousands of hours to build and construct and bring to the show.”

Exhibitors at this year’s event include hobbyists from across Western Canada, commercial vendors selling their wares, and displays from groups including the Alberta Central Railway Museum Society, Calgary Transit, and the CN Railways Historical Association.

The show continues on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. For more information and ticket prices, visit Supertrain.
