The fire department is investigating an early morning blaze that tore through a home under construction in northwest Calgary on Tuesday.

At just after 3:00 a.m., firefighters were called to a home at 4 Street and 30 Avenue N.W. which was on fire.

The flames spread quickly through the partially built home and it could not be saved.

Firefighters got the fire out in about half an hour after arrival.

Crews say that no one was inside at the time and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and crews are monitoring hot spots. It's not believed to be suspicious in nature.

4 Street was closed while crews were fighting the blaze, but it has since reopened.
