Tributes are pouring in online for a young Calgary man whose body was found on the Tsuu T’ina First Nation on the weekend.

Family has identified Brando Walker as the victim in a homicide case that police are currently investigating on the reserve.

Officials say the body, which was partially burned, was found on the shoreline of the Elbow River by two fishermen on Saturday afternoon.

An autopsy determined Walker was murdered, but the cause of death has not been released.

On his Facebook page, Walker wrote that he was interested in rapping, breakdancing, songwriting, and playing the guitar.

Friends and family say he went missing on February 25.

Authorities say he had no ties to the Tsuu T’ina First Nation.

“Through our investigation it has been determined that this male does not have any ties to the Tsuu T’ina Nation nor the residents of the Tsuu T’ina Nation that we are aware of and as a result of that the RCMP Major Crimes Unit South will be taking over the investigation,” said Sgt. Shane Powers with Tsuu T’ina Police Service on Tuesday.

Powers says the RCMP will be taking over the investigation.

Police are requesting that anyone with information about this incident come forward and contact the RCMP at 403-420-4913 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
