Highway collision with parked truck claims 73-year-old cyclist from Fort Macleod

A Fort Macleod senior is dead following a Thursday afternoon crash on Highway 2 south of the town of Granum.

According to Fort Macleod RCMP, an unnamed 73-year-old man was cycling southbound along the shoulder of Highway 2 near Township Rd 95A  at approximately 1:00 p.m. A passing van forced the cyclist further onto the shoulder where he crashed into the back of a parked semi-truck.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. RCMP have not released the identity of the deceased.
