Charges are pending after hundreds of exotic animals were seized by the Calgary Humane Society.

Investigators removed 333 exotic animals from a business in N.E. Calgary on December 2, 2015.

The animals include various species of snakes, lizards, amphibians, invertebrates and spiders.

Brad Nichols, Senior Manager, Animal Cruelty Investigations said it’s one of the largest and most complex seizures in the Humane Society’s history.

“As a result we are now caring for many reptiles and amphibians which have very specific needs regarding food, lighting, heating and enclosures,” he said.  “There is a long road ahead as far as evidence collection, but it is fair to say charges are pending.”

The shelter is now struggling to care for the animals and are appealing to the public to help.

Anyone who can donate clean reptile enclosures and equipment is asked to drop them off at the office at 4455 110 Avenue S.E. Cash donations can also be made.
