Barb Scott, one of the City of Calgary’s longest-serving aldermen has passed away.

Scott served on council from 1971 to 1995, when she decided to not run again.

She was awarded the Order of Canada in 1997.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi describes Scott as passionate and distinct.

Scott endorsed Nenshi for mayor back in 2010.

Scott was 83.

Friends say that at her request, there will be no funeral.
