Police are continuing to search for a man wanted in connection with the hit and run death of a Calgary in mid-February, and have expanded their search outside the province.

A Canada-wide warrant has now been issued for the arrest of Derek Brian Grouette, 33.

Grouette is wanted in connection with a number of charges, including hit and run and dangerous driving causing death.

On February 18, at about 6:30 a.m., police attended the scene of a two vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of 37 Street S.W. near 130 Avenue.

Eyewitnesses to the crash say the one of the vehicles involved, a pickup truck, was seen driving southbound in the northbound lanes when the incident took place.

The three occupants of the truck, believed to have been stolen from Chestermere, fled the scene prior to crews getting there.

The driver of the other vehicle, Keith Arthur Morley, 52, was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Morley's family have released two statements in the wake of his passing.

Police have tracked down two of the suspects, but are still seeking Grouette on the following charges:

  • One count of hit and run causing death
  • One count of dangerous driving causing death
  • One count of break and enter
  • Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Six counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • One count of operating a motor vehicle while unauthorized
  • One count of operating a motor vehicle without insurance

He is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 5’9”
  • 220 lbs
  • Brown eyes
  • Brown hair
  • Possibly has a goatee

Grouette has tattoos on his upper right arm, shoulders and both forearms. His ears have also been pierced.
