The Calgary Police Service is renewing its request for public assistance in its rekindled investigation into the murder of a 64-year-old woman at a southwest home in 1997.

On the morning of November 23, 1997, the body of Florence Marie Parkkari was discovered inside her home in the 100 block of Gloucester Cres. S.W.

The cause of Parkkari’s death has not been released.

An initial investigation into the homicide had determined the offender or offenders were likely underage.

In 1997, a CPS criminal and geographical profile of the suspected killer indicated the culprit was between the ages of 16 and 20 years old, and lived with walking distance of the scene of the crime. The suspect was believed to have a slight frame and gained access to Parkkari’s home through a doggie door at the rear entrance of the residence.

New information has surfaced indicating Parkkari’s death was perpetrated by an adult, or adults, known to the victim. Police are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the area recorded at the time of the offence.

Anyone with information about Florence Parkkari’s homicide is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
