A police standoff in the city's southeast has ended peacefully.

Early Sunday afternoon, police responded to a domestic complaint in the community of Penbrooke.

One man barricaded himself inside the home and police were informed that he may be in possession of weapons.

Calgary police surrounded the home and cordoned off a section of the road.

Just after 5:00 p.m., District 4 police, with the assistance of the tactical unit, were able to get the suspect's attention.

He exited the home and surrendered to police.

The man is in custody and charges are pending. Police continue to investigate.
