A rollover crash on Highway 1A between Calgary and Cochrane sent seven people to hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Highway 1A and Lochend Road at about 3:30 p.m. for reports of a crash.

“Both vehicles  were travelling eastbound on 1A towards Calgary. One vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle. The vehicle that was rear-ended then went into the ditch and then went end over end, roll,” said RCMP Sgt. Jeff Campbell.

EMS officials say seven people were transported from the two vehicle crash to hospital.

An adult female was taken to Foothills Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Six children, ranging in age from 11 months to 11 years, were taken to Alberta Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
