The Calgary Stampede Showband has been given a prestigious award from a U.S. based foundation.
In a ceremony over the weekend, the band was awarded the International Sudler Shield Award, from the John Philip Sousa Foundation.
The award recognizes long-term world-calibre excellence.
The showband won its second straight world title at the World Association of Marching Show Bands in Japan in 2013.
It’s the only band to ever have back-to-back titles.
