The northeast Calgary community of Taradale is coming together in support of a 17-year-old girl, the victim of a savage sexual assault that took place over the weekend.

The event, dubbed ‘Glow in the Dark’, will take place on Friday at the bus stop where the girl was first attacked.

News of the gathering comes just as police have laid charges against two brothers in connection with the sexual assault.

Corey and Cody Manyshots, 25 and 21, are facing a list of charges, including sexual assault causing bodily harm, in the attack.

They were arrested on November 15, less than 24 hours following the attack.

Police say the victim was waiting at a bus stop in the community at about 11:30 p.m. Friday when she was approached by two men.

The men attacked her, dragging her to a nearby alleyway where they sexually assaulted her.

Following that, they took her to a home in Martindale where they held her against her will, repeatedly sexually assaulting her.

The victim then managed to escape and ran home, where her family called police on Saturday morning.

The brothers were formally charged on Monday morning.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the event in Taradale. People are asked to be at the bus stop at the corner of Taradale Drive and Taracove Road N.E. by 5:30 p.m.
