A man charged in the disappearance and murder of his common-law wife will have to wait a little longer for his day in court.

Allan Shyback, charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body in connection to the death of Lisa Mitchell, made a brief court appearance on Friday.

According to police, Shyback allegedly murdered Mitchell in 2012 and hid the body in the family’s home for more than two years.

According to Shyback’s attorney, Balfour Der, Crown Prosecutors say Shyback was the target of a yearlong Mr. Big sting where undercover officers, masquerading as criminals, attempted to gain evidence on alleged crimes.

The case has been postponed to allow the Crown and Shyback’s legal representation sufficient time to examine the evidence.

“There's a large amount of material that the Prosecutors office have to provide us,” said Balfour Der. “There was a fairly lengthy undercover investigation by the city police, that takes the Prosecutor’s office a long time to marshall, to be able to deliver to me, and then I need the time then to be able to go through it to see what the issues are and how we're going to approach this case.”

The case is scheduled to resume on February 26, 2015.
