The Airdrie RCMP detachment is asking for public help in identifying a man who brazenly walked stolen merchandise out of the main entrance of the Costco Wholesale Store in Balzac.
According to RCMP members, on the afternoon of Wednesday July 30, the suspect entered the Costco and grabbed a $600 upright vacuum from the store’s shelves. The unidentified man proceeded to the store’s customer service counter and attempted to return the ill-gotten item. When the cashier requested the man’s membership card, the suspect announced his card was in his vehicle. The man left the store with the stolen vacuum.
The suspect is described as:
- A Caucasian male
- Having dark hair
- Approximately 170 cm (5’7”) tall
- Having an average build
Similar thefts, perpetrated by a man matching the suspect description, have occurred at Costco locations throughout southern Alberta.
