People who were unable to make court dates at the Calgary Courts Centre because of flooding are being rescheduled and the city’s law department is reminding those affected that they need to appear in court on or before July 17, 2013.
The information was released for those people with violation tickets for a Municipal Bylaw Offence that was scheduled for an appearance on any of the following dates:
- Friday, June 21, 2013
- Monday, June 24, 2013
- Tuesday, June 25, 2013
- Wednesday, June 26, 2013
- Thursday, June 27, 2013
- Friday, June 28, 2013
Those who were unable to attend their appearance on any of these dates were automatically rescheduled to Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in either Courtroom 908 or Courtroom 1405.
Offences include parking infractions, transit offences, pet and animal offences, and business license offences.
"I encourage those affected to come down to the Calgary Courts Centre and speak to their matters before July 17 if possible,” says Amanda Hart, manager of the Prosecutions division with The City of Calgary’s Law Department. “We’re expecting very high volumes on that day.”
Court officials say failure of the defendant, lawyer or agent to appear at the Calgary Courts Centre on or before July 17, 2013 may result in a summons, warrant for arrest, or conviction in absence.
