The Calgary Humane Society (CHS) says that they are "Deeply saddened by the recent deaths at the Calgary Stampede."
CHS's official position is that they "Never want to see an animal harmed in an event".
They are "Oppose to the use of animals for any form of entertainment in which they are placed at risk of suffering stress, pain, injury or death."
The CHS's says its efforts can only go so far.
They are asking the community to make their views known on this issue.
The Calgary Humane Society suggests that concerned citizens contact the Calgary Stampede, the chairman of the Calgary Stampede or your local alderman.
