Dr. Kris Mohandie, an expert on human confinement called to testify in the Dustin Paxton trial, continued his testimony for the third day via a teleconference.
The court heard differing perspectives on how the victim, who cannot be names, came to weigh just 87 pounds when he was dumped at a Regina hospital.
Mohandie already spent two days on the stand in Calgary.
Mohandie says that it appeared that Paxton used food to control the victim, which may have contributed to his severe malnourishment.
He mentioned one incident in particular where witnesses saw Paxton get angry with the victim over a drinking a Slurpee.
Paxton's defence said that the issue was drinking a beverage in front of a client, not anything to do with food deprivation.
Mohandie says that there is ‘no business concern that justifies beating an employee'.
Testimony is expected to wrap up today as Mohandie is the Crown's final witness.
At that point, the defence will be allowed to call witnesses to the stand but Paxton's legal team hasn't indicated who, if anyone, they'll put on the stand.
