The Martindale and Saddletowne CTrain stations are set to open following a Saturday afternoon kickoff in the city’s northeast.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi, Alberta Minister of Transportation Ric McIver, Calgary-Greenway MLA Manmeet Bhullar, Councillor Jim Stevenson and City of Calgary General Manager of Transportation Mac Logan were among the dignitaries taking part in the block part held at the Saddletowne LRT Park and Ride lot.

The two new stations will officially open for service on Monday, August 27.  Construction on the two new stations and the rail line connecting them started in 2009 and cost a total of $142 million.

The provincial government has invested more than $80 million towards the northeast LRT extension.
