Tabitha Stepple, one of the victims in the triple murder-suicide outside of Claresholm last week, was laid to rest in Lethbridge on Wednesday.
Hundreds of family and friends crowded into the Evangelical Free Church in Lethbridge to remember the young woman.
Stepple was shot to death on December 15, 2011 along with Mitch Maclean, 20, and Tanner Craswell, 22.
Derek Jensen opened fire on Highway 2 on Thursday morning killing the three young people and then turned the gun on himself.
Pastor Ian Lawson presided over the memorial service for Stepple and told the congregation that "This is particularly difficult for parents because kids are not supposed to predecease us. It's the wrong order. It's backwards."
Lawson said that the Stepple's have a strong sense of family and support.
"There's no doubt that the pain is deep, the grief is profound but they're hanging together and I expect it will be challenging the weeks and months to come when the emptiness and quietness settles in," said Lawson.
Shayna Conway is the lone survivor of the tragedy and is currently recovering in hospital from several gunshot wounds.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
A trust fund has been set up at TD Canada Trust to help with Conway's medical expenses:
- Branch # 80679
- Account # 6480005
- Cheques should be made out to Scott Conway or S Conway
Funerals for Maclean and Craswell will be held later this week.
RCMP say the investigation into the murders is not over. They are conducting toxicology tests on Derek Jensen's body but will not be releasing the results because no charges will be laid.
