Slowly things are coming back online in Calgary as crews work tirelessly to restore essential services that were disrupted in last week’s flooding and there is some very good news.
As of this morning, Calgary Transit will be bringing the downtown CTrain back online.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi made the announcement on Monday night.
“As of tomorrow morning, beginning of service, we will have CTrain service, Blue Line, the CTrain downtown.”
The first train went down the line at 4:45 a.m.
However, there are two exceptions to the plan: the CTrain will not stop at City Hall or the Centre Street-First Street Stations due to continued power issues.
Construction work at Erlton LRT is also underway.
Calgary Transit has also extended some more help to seniors and low income earners by extending the use of transit passes for the month of June to July 15.
Despite the progress made, Nenshi says that residents should continue to stay out of the core until all the work is finished.
