An 83-year-old man has succumbed to the injuries he suffered in a recent hit-and-run in the city of Brooks.

On the afternoon of May 28, RCMP were called to the intersection of 9 Avenue and 3 Street West after a senior’s electric mobility scooter was struck by a car in a marked crosswalk.

The driver of the car fled the scene before emergency scene arrived.

On Friday, the victim passed away in hospital. RCMP have not released the name of the victim nor the nature of his injuries.

Members of the Brooks RCMP detachment continue to investigate the incident and are asking for witnesses to come forward.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older model car, make and model not confirmed, believed to be faded red. RCMP suspect the impact of the collision damaged the front passenger side panel of the car.
