Regina police have now begun an investigation into the savage torture and beating of a Calgary man.

The 26-year-old man is in a Regina hospital recovering from horrific injuries.

Police say he was dropped off at the hospital over a month ago.

He was reported missing in February.

Police still haven't named a suspect or a motive in the case.

There are still many unanswered questions, but the alleged victim has been able to talk to police.

Friends say he was able to communicate via an electronic device, but it's not clear if he fully understands what has happened to him.

Family members have questions for the man's business partner in Calgary.

CTV News went to that person's house on Monday but no one was home.

Meanwhile, efforts on Facebook are trying to raise money for his recovery and help generate tips about his beating.

Over 8,000 people have joined the group so far.

The Calgary Police Service's Major Crimes Unit tells CTV News they are watching this case closely and have been in contact with Regina police, but so far they have not been requested to help in this investigation.
