A man had to be airlifted to Foothills Hospital after he was involved in a serious crash on Highway 2 just south of Calgary.

The crash occurred at about 7 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 2.

Police say the SUV that the man was driving was struck from behind by a flatbed truck.

They had to close off the area for about two hours following the crash.

The driver of the truck was shaken up, but didn’t sustain any injuries.

Alcohol is not suspected in the crash and police say the roads were bare and dry.
