Premier Alison Redford is continuing to go to bat for the highest paid employees at the Government of Alberta, a lot of who earn far in excess of $300,000.
The salaries of 3,000 government employees who earn $100,000 or more was released earlier this week.
The Sunshine List reveals that a lot of employees are much better paid than similar positions elsewhere in Canada and, in some cases, the world.
Redford acknowledges that fact, but says that Alberta’s employees are worth it.
“I’m very proud of the people that work in my office very hard every day to put in place the plans that we need to keep building this province. These are incredibly highly skilled quality people and I do think it's appropriate to compensate them adequately.”
She adds the province is more competitive and those people demand higher salaries.
