Customers who bought tickets through TicketsNow, but have since been issued settlement cheques last year are being reminded that those cheques are about to expire.
The company says that about $2.4M is available to consumers in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and Quebec and remains unclaimed.
The settlement cheques were sent directly to members back in January 2013 to the address provided by the customer in the transaction.
To date, about 24 percent of the cheques have yet to be claimed.
The deadline is on January 27 and after that date any cheques that remain uncashed cannot be claimed and the money will no longer be available.
Anyone who has not received a cheque, but believes they bought eligible tickets, can contact the Settlement Administrator at 1-877-446-5768 or via email at info@ticketsettlement.com.
Any customers who think they may have misplaced their cheque can also contact the Settlement Administrator for a replacement, free of charge.
The settlement cheques are the result of four class action lawsuits regarding the resale of event tickets on the TicketsNow website.
In the lawsuits, the plaintiffs claimed that the tickets on the website were sold for much higher prices than permitted by legislation.
The following customers are included in the settlement:
- Between February 19, 2006 and September 25, 2012, for events in Quebec;
- Between February 9, 2007 and September 25, 2012, for events in Ontario;
- Between February 17, 2007 and October 31, 2009, for events in Alberta; or
- Between February 17, 2007 and September 25, 2012, for events in Manitoba.
More information about the settlement and eligible tickets is available on the official settlement website at www.ticketsettlement.com.
