A man and woman who were shot to death at a home in the northeast community of Redstone on Tuesday night have been identified.

The pair have been identified as Cuc Lung, 34, and Quang Chi Tran, 38, and police say they died as a result of a shooting.

Police say they were targeted and that the woman had a long criminal history, but say there is no immediate danger to the public.

Lung was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle inside the garage of a home on Redstone Manor N.E. when she was shot. She later died in hospital. Tran, her 38-year-old common-law husband, was in the passenger seat and died at the scene.

The murders happened in front of a five-year-old child, the woman’s son, who was in the back seat of the vehicle. The boy and the woman’s other child who was inside the house at the time were not injured. Both are now in the custody of social services.

Police are pleading for those responsible for the shooting to come forward.

“I would like to appeal to persons involved in this incident and remind them that there's only two ways out of this lifestyle, police assisted exit strategy or what happened last night,” said Insp. Don Coleman, CPS Major Crimes Section on Wednesday.

Police say the shooting was gang-related and may be connected to another crime in the past. No descriptions of possible suspects have been released.
