Three people are facing charges in connection to an altercation that happened at a demonstration in front of City Hall back in July.

Police were called to Macleod Trail on Friday, July 18 at about 6:00 p.m. after a large demonstration in support of Palestine escalated into a heated confrontation when pro-Israeli demonstrators showed up.

A number of people recorded the clashes and police have now charged three people in connection to the assault on three victims at the rally.

Aziz Mohammed Madi, 18, of Calgary, is charged with two counts of assault and will next appear in court on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014.

Arlsan Khan, 27, of Calgary, is charged with one count of assault and will next appear in court on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014.

A 16-year-old male from Calgary, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with one count of assault. He will next appear in court on Monday, September15, 2014.

Police say charges against a fourth man are expected to be laid within the next 24 hours.

Investigators are looking to identify a man who they say may have more information and have released his picture.

He is described as:

  • Olive skin tone
  • Dark hair
  • Slim build
  • Speaks with an accent
  • Was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt with a Dulux logo on it, white runners and a tan baseball cap.
  • Clothing and hands were stained with white paint
