An intense winter storm blew into Alberta Friday morning.

Strong winds and blowing snow greeted some people during the morning commute.

The storm blew into Calgary after 8 a.m. according to CTV Meteorologist Steve Rothfels.

Conditions on the highways are reported in poor winter driving condition and a weather warning is in effect for virtually the entire province.

Drivers are urged to use caution on the roads.

Up to 20 centimeters are possible by Saturday morning.

Environment Canada also issued a Blizzard warning for areas west and north of the Calgary.

Visibility is very poor on roads in and around the city.

Roads crews spent the night putting down anti-icing agents and salt chips on high traffic areas.

The city is warning drivers to slow down, drive defensively, and expect delays.

More than 150 collisions were reported in Calgary by 3:30 p.m.

At the Calgary International Airport, at least two dozen flights have been cancelled including departures to B.C. and U-S destinations like Denver and Houston.

Passengers are advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport.
