CBE Distinguished Alumni Award

In 2001, Calgary Board of Education (CBE) Trustees established the Distinguished Alumni Award to formally acknowledge graduates whose public education background has enabled them to reach their goals and become extraordinary role models for future generations due to their outstanding achievements and contributions to the community through their work and philanthropy.

2013/14 recipients of the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) Distinguished Alumni Award are Brian Felesky C.M., Q.C., a graduate of William Aberhart High School and Stephanie Felesky, a graduate of Henry Wise Wood High School. They possess the skills, attitude and character we aspire for our future leaders to have.

Brian Felesky is currently Vice-Chairman, Investment Banking (Canada) of Credit Suisse. He was a founding partner of Felesky Flynn LP where he specialized in corporate tax law. He is a strong voice for Western Canada, and plays a prominent role in his community through volunteerism and philanthropy. He is strongly committed to youth and education, and has sat on many public-interest boards. Mr. Felesky is also a founding member of Awali, an Alberta fundraising initiative that works with Aga Khan Foundation on teacher development in East Africa.

Stephanie Felesky is a member of the national board of directors of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a member of the Calgary Police Commission. She is a founding director of the Calgary Homeless Foundation and supports numerous community based organizations. Ms. Felesky has received the National Chair’s Award from the United Way of Canada and the Lifetime Philanthropist Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is passionate about students, learning and public education.
