Kristopher Guenther is on trial for first degree murder in the death of Lacey Jones-McKnight.

On Tuesday, a Calgary police officer took the stand to respond to a 911 call placed by Guenther’s previous girlfriend, Megan Thibault, on the night  Jones-McKnight died.

The crown said Guenther drove to the bar where Thibault worked, to prove what she refused to believe on the phone, that he had strangled Jones-McKnight.

Thibault called 911 to say that she saw, what she believed was Lacey’s body in Guenther’s passenger seat.

The crown said Guenther then drove to the home of Shelly Jones, Lacey’s mom where he asked Jones to kill him.

She refused and that’s when Guenther drove to a nearby highway overpass, where he tried to hang himself, but was saved by a passerby.

Lacey Jones-McKnight was found dead in the vehicle, belonging to Guenther, in October of 2012.

Guenther has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder and the trial is scheduled for several more weeks
