Police in Coquitlam are looking for a man who went missing from the Forensic Psychiatric Institute on Tuesday.
Shane Metcalfe was reported as an unauthorized absence from the facility on July 29 and is now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.
The facility is a secure hospital that treats and rehabilitates people who have come in conflict with the law or are determined to be unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible due to a mental illness.
Shane Metcalfe is described as:
- Caucasian
- 44 years old
- Short light brown unkempt hair
- 170 cm or 5’7 tall
- 88 Kg or 195 lbs
- Green eyes
- He was last seen wearing a pale collared t-shirt, black shorts and black running shoes
Police say Metcalfe suffers from a mental illness and people should not approach him if sighted.
Calgary police say there is a chance that he could be making his way to Alberta.
