A 63-year-old man has died in hospital following Wednesday morning’s crash on the west edge of the city.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, the driver of a westbound 2000 Chevrolet Astro Van lost control of his vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway location near Calgary city limits. The vehicle entered the median and flipped on to its roof in the lanes of oncoming traffic, trapping the man inside.

Fire crews extricated the 63-year-old from the wreckage and EMS transported the man to hospital in serious, life threatening condition.

On Thursday morning, the man passed away in hospital.

Police have identified the deceased as David Fiddler.
