Jason Hubler's videotaped interview was played in a Calgary courtroom on Monday morning.

Hubler is accused, along with Tosha Hubler, of killing 77-year-old market vendor Rino Ray Johnson.

Johnson was last seen alive when he left to meet the Hublers at their Bridgeland rental house in January 2009.

His body was found the next day in an industrial area in Ramsay.

An autopsy revealed he was killed by blunt-force trauma.

In February 2009 police charged the couple with one count each of first-degree murder.

Jason Hubler, 36, was also charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of a stolen credit card. Tosha Hubler, 31, was also charged with possession of a stolen credit card.

The couple was taken into custody near the gates of Banff National Park after an undercover police officer spotted Johnson's stolen truck heading westbound on 16th Avenue and alerted RCMP.

Hubler said during the interview that the whole thing was a tragic accident. He said that Johnson came to his house to buy tools, slipped on some dog food, and fell down the basement stairs.

Hubler says he panicked and convinced his wife to help him dispose of the body.

Tosha Hubler's tape was played last week in court and told a much different story than her husband's.

The trial will continue for the rest of the week.
