Authorities are investigating after an inmate at the Drumheller Institution died in an area hospital earlier this week.
On Thursday, Correctional Service Canada said that Rodney Hirsekorn, 60, died on April 19.
There are no details on how the man died or the timeline of events leading up to his death.
Officials say Hirsekorn was serving an indeterminate sentence for the second-degree murders of his mother and sister in Winnipeg in 2005.
He’d been at the prison since December 2006.
Police and the coroner are taking part in the investigation.
