Calgary Police have laid a charge of second degree murder against a man in connection with the death of a woman in her 40s in the southwest neighbourhood of Mission.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to a home in the 200 block of Holy Cross Lane S.W.
They had received several calls to 911 saying that a woman had been stabbed.
Officers at the scene found the body of a woman in her 40s. They aren’t saying anything about how she died.
A short time later, a man was arrested for questioning about the incident.
Scott Monrow Ferguson, 24, has been charged with the murder of the woman.
Police say Ferguson and the victim were in a relationship and this is being considered a domestic-related homicide.
"Investigators and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner continue to work to locate next of kin and make a formal identification of the victim. Once that has been completed, her identity will be released," said CPS S/Sgt Colin Chisholm.
Investigators say one of the 911 calls may have come from the man himself.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Ferguson is also expected to appear in court.
This is Calgary's 26th homicide of 2014.
