An afternoon crash on Highway 22, south of the Trans-Canada Highway, has sent three people to hospital.

According to RCMP officials, the collision occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. when a motorcycle rider attempted to merge into southbound traffic when it collided with a southbound sedan.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist, a man believed to be in his mid-sixties, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. EMS transported the man to hospital.

Two of the occupants of the sedan, a woman, believed to be in her mid-thirties, and a one-month-old girl suffered minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to hospital. A girl, believed to be approximately six years old, and a boy, roughly four year old, were in the sedan at the time of the crash but were not injured. The children were transported from the crash scene by a relative.

Members of the Cochrane RCMP detachment continue to investigate the crash.

Traffic on Highway 22 was interrupted for a short period of time following the collision, but all lanes of the highway have reopened.
