Calgary police have arrested one person after a fight outside a sports bar resulted in one man being sent to hospital to be treated for a stab wound.

At about 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the Tops Sports Bar on 4 Street N.W. for reports of a robbery.

According to police, a man attempted to rob the bar at knifepoint and stabbed a man who attempted to intervene.

The victim was sent to hospital in serious, but non-life threatening condition.

The suspect managed to escape the first location, where he then attempted to rob a Subway location in northeast Calgary.

Police eventually tracked him down and arrested him.

Charges are pending.
