Police have recovered the body of a man who was reported missing by his family in February on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation west of Calgary.

RCMP in Cochrane were notified about the discovery of what appeared to be human remains by a citizen at about 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014.

Calgary police were called in and the remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

An autopsy has confirmed the remains as those of 25-year-old Suryan Giama.

Police say the cause of death remains undetermined and that Giama’s next of kin have been notified.

Giama was last seen by a family member on Monday, February 17 at a home in Woodbine and his dark grey, 2007 four-door Toyota Camry was found on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the city’s southwest.

Police believe he met with foul play and his disappearance is being investigated by the Homicide Unit.
