A Shepherd-mix puppy, who was found severely injured on a road near Cochrane, has recovered from his injuries and has been adopted.

In September, an eight-week-old Rufus was located by an EMS crew. The dog had suffered significant injuries which officials believe had been the result of someone kicking the young pup in the head.

Rufus’ jaw was broken in several places and infection had set in.

The paramedic transported the injured dog by ambulance to the Cochrane and Area Humane Society for medical treatment.

After two months of surgery, recovery, regular vet visits and behaviour modification instruction, Rufus was deemed fit for adoption. His rescuer, the unidentified paramedic, expressed his willingness to adopt Rufus and the two have been reunited.
