The lifeless body of a woman found in the middle of a Sunalta street Wednesday morning is not related to a severely damaged Cadillac sedan located by police a short time later in the downtown core.

Early Wednesday morning, a taxi driver located the dead woman in the 1600 block of 15 Ave. S.W.  The Chief Medical Examiner has concluded the woman's death was the result of blunt force trauma.

Police have identified the victim as 19-year-old Polina Kazanceva.

According to a friend of the victim, Kazanceva is originally from Toronto and was living a high risk lifestyle in Calgary.  She had lived in Calgary for less than two weeks and was staying in a hotel.

Shortly after police responded to the Sunalta location, an abandoned Cadillac sedan with significant damage to its front end was located near the intersection of 12 Ave. and 2 St. S.W.

Police officials say the Cadillac is not connected to Kazanceva's death.

Anyone with information about either of the two unrelated events on the morning of March 20, 2013, or knows of Kazanceva's wherabouts in the hours prior to her death, is asked to contact Calgary police or Crime Stoppers.

Family members of Kazanceva are traveling to Calgary from Ontario.
