Police are searching for the driver of a van that lost control and slammed into a house along Edmonton Trail on Thursday morning.
They say that just before 6 a.m., a van lost control on Edmonton Trail at 11 Avenue N.E., then slammed into the side of a home.
A pickup truck parked nearby was also hit and severely damaged.
The driver of the van fled on foot after crashing.
Police at the scene did an extensive search when they arrived, but have not turned up any sign of the suspect.
Four people were inside the house at the time of the crash, but luckily no one was hurt.
One resident said that he heard a very loud bang that he first thought was a gas explosion. "It was pretty scary. I saw a windshield and a guy was in there, but he ran off. We thought something was up because of the quick response. I just hope he doesn't come back."
Nick Perveresoff, who also lives at the home, says the van hit the building right outside where he was sleeping. "I heard a really loud crash and then the cops yelling because they were on scene right away. It felt like an earthquake."
He says the area has been pretty quiet since he's lived there. "Traffic comes and goes. Nothing really crazy happens here."
The fire department has been called to inspect the home and determine if there is any structural damage.
The investigation is ongoing.
