One of Canada's most famous and decorated ballerinas slapped on her slippers once again to give a group of Calgary dancers a class they will never forget.

The TransAlta Grandstand Show at the Stampede is a yearly showcase of talent for The Young Canadians.

The young dancers practice for months before the big show and on Friday they got a little help from Canadian ballet legend Evelyn Hart.

"To have someone like Miss Evelyn, Canada's ballerina, come in and share her expertise, I could see the girls, the light bulbs were turning on and their foundation was getting even stronger," said Angela Benson, Artistic Director.

Hart was a Prima Ballerina with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for decades and is one of this country's most decorated performers.

"It is so inspiring I will definitely keep her words of wisdom with me not only ballet class but every single dance training," said Nicole Robins.

Hart had an opportunity to guest-teach the young Canadians four years ago and is happy to be invited back.

"What's lovely about the Young Canadians is that they have such a broad range, they bring a different perspective about movement and why they're dancing, for what, and for what, and ballet is not the be-all-end-all for them," said Hart.

The TransAlta Grandstand Show runs nightly during the Stampede from July 6 to 15th.
