Lethbridge police are asking for public help in locating the culprit in a recent pellet gun shooting which resulted in the surgical removal of the eye of a family’s pet.

On Monday morning, a cat named Boots returned to its Lethbridge home with a serious injury to its eye. The owner transported the animal to a veterinary clinic where the decision was made to perform emergency surgery.

During the procedure, a veterinarian discovered a pellet lodged in Boot’s eye. The cat’s eye was removed.

The pet owner contacted the Lethbridge Regional Police Service on Wednesday and an investigation into the shooting was launched.

Police believe the cat was shot on the evening of Sunday, July 6, or in the early morning hours of Monday, July 7, in an area near the 1600 block of 5A Ave. N.
