The Lethbridge Police Service confirms charges are pending against a driver in connection with a Wednesday night collision that left a 51-year-old man from Nobleford with serious injuries to his head and spine.

According to police, the collision occurred at approximate 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of 3 Avenue and 12B Street South. Police have determined a westbound motorcycle was struck by a southbound Volkswagen Jetta that was attempting to make a left hand turn.

The crash sent the motorcyclist, who was the lone occupant of the bike, to the ground.

The motorcyclist, a 51-year-old man from Nobleford, was transported by ambulance from the scene to hospital in critical condition. Given the extent of the man’s injuries, which included injuries to his head and spine, the patient was airlifted to a Calgary-area hospital.

Police have not indicated if the driver of the Jetta was injured in the crash. The investigation into the collision is ongoing and charges are pending.
