Calgary police have located a utility trailer belonging to Rick Wallenda but the third generation tightrope walker remains without his specialized equipment and memorabilia

The Royal Canadian Circus’ stint in Calgary commenced with an unscheduled disappearing act as Wallenda’s utility trailer was removed from the Crossroads Furniture Mart parking lot on Friday.

According to Wallenda, the theft occurred while he was inside the big top preparing the rigging for his high-wire performances.

On Sunday morning, Royal Canadian Circus officials said the trailer has been located by police following a tip from the public. The empty trailer was situated approximately four blocks from the circus site.

Police continue to investigate the theft and the trailer has been seized for additional forensic testing.

Wallenda is disheartened by the discovery of the trailer as it was the contents of the container, not the trailer itself, which held sentimental value for the tightrope walker who continues to perform in the tradition of his grandfather, the founder of ‘The Flying Wallenda’.

The trailer contained high-wire equipment, costumes and artifacts which Wallenda believes would be of little value to the thief.

Wallenda will continue to perform during the Royal Canadian Circus’ scheduled shows but without his specialized tightrope footwear and costumes.

Anyone with information about the theft of the trailer or the whereabouts of the stolen items is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
