New information has come to light in the triple murder at the Bolsa Restaurant in 2009 resulting in the adjournment of the sentencing hearing for one of the men convicted.
Real Honorio was to be sentenced on Friday, June 1 for his role in the shooting at the restaurant on 94th Ave. S.E. that claimed the lives of Sanjeev Mann, Aaron Bendle and innocent bystander Keni Su'a
Mann and Bendle were shot to death inside the Bolsa on New Year's Day 2009 and Su'a was gunned down as he ran from the restaurant.
Honorio was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder in March of this year.
Both the Crown and defence attorneys asked for the adjournment because they received new information in the case.
A confidential informant who testified in the case, confessed to the killings last July when he was arrested for DUI in Unity Saskatchewan.
The man, known only as MM, told RCMP that he killed all three victims.
The jury in Honorio's trial did not have this information, but lawyers say it is not likely that a mistrial or stay will be issued.
"At this point, the question of remedy is a little tricky because once a jury has been discharged generally the judge's jurisdiction to do much is relatively limited. We're gonna do everything we can to see if we can right the matter and we're looking into the appropriate remedies but it may be that he's gonna be stuck with being convicted of these offences and we'll have to find our remedy at the court of appeal," said Defence Attorney, Greg Dunn
Two other men, Nathan Zucheratto and Michael Roberto were convicted in November 2011 of the murders.
A fourth accused, Nicholas Hovanesian pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder and kidnapping in May of this year.
