A massive residential and commercial development near the intersection of Sarcee Trail and the Trans-Canada Highway in Calgary’s southwest is one step closer to fruition following an initial vote by city council.
Councillors voted overwhelmingly in favour of the rezoning of the Paskapoo Slopes by a 12-3 margin.
Trinity Development Group plans to erect a $1 billion ‘urban village’ on the privately owned 260 acre parcel of land while setting aside more than 60% of the area as a regional park.
Members of council who opposed the rezoning included Mayor Nenshi, Druh Ferrell and Brian Pincott.
